Shopping for reishi?
Start with the formula. A practical guide to reishi extracts, capsules, and gummies—and where a marine + mushroom formula fits.

01 / START WITH YOUR ROUTINE
Which reishi supplement are you actually looking for?
A reishi mushroom supplement can mean a single-mushroom capsule, an extract powder, a liquid, or a blend that includes reishi alongside other ingredients. Those options solve different shopping problems. Start with the format you will use and the amount of reishi you want disclosed, then compare the complete formula.
There is no universal “best reishi supplement.” A reishi-only shopper, someone comparing marine-and-mushroom capsules, and someone who wants pineapple gummies should not be handed the same recommendation.
Reishi alone
Choose a single-ingredient product when you want to keep reishi separate from the rest of your routine. Look for the mushroom identity, material, amount per serving, and extract specifications.
A focused combination
Choose a combination when you actively want the companion ingredients. Fucoidan Force® pairs a separately listed organic reishi extract with a standardized brown-seaweed extract.
A multi-mushroom gummy
Choose a blend for several mushroom species in a chewable format. MYCO-X™ organic mushroom gummies include reishi, lion’s mane, turkey tail, and seven other species.
02 / READ THE EXTRACT
Fruiting body, mycelium, and extract are different details.
Reishi labels commonly identify the mushroom as Ganoderma lucidum. The fruiting body is the recognizable mushroom structure; mycelium is its branching growth network. These terms describe the material used. “Extract” describes further processing. None of those words, by itself, tells you the finished product’s dose or proves a health benefit.
For a useful comparison, ask four separate questions: Which mushroom is named? Which material is used? How much actual ingredient is in the serving? Which compounds, if any, are measured? If mycelium is grown on a substrate, ask how the finished ingredient is characterized instead of assuming all products use identical material.
Also separate extract weight from a raw-material equivalent. A large equivalent-weight number and a smaller extract amount are not directly interchangeable. An extraction ratio does not replace a measurement of the compounds in the final ingredient.
For the wider species comparison, read our functional mushroom guide before deciding whether you want reishi alone or a broader mushroom complex.
The useful number is the one you can explain: what it measures, what it applies to, and how much is in a serving.
03 / UNDERSTAND THE PERCENTAGE
Polysaccharides are not the same claim as beta-glucans.
Beta-glucans belong to the larger polysaccharide family. A total-polysaccharide percentage does not automatically disclose the beta-glucan percentage. Keep the label’s exact wording when comparing two extracts; swapping the terms can create a misleading comparison.
A 2017 laboratory study in Scientific Reports examined 19 reishi supplement batches purchased in the United States in 2015. Researchers used several analytical methods and found substantial differences between products and their label claims. The practical lesson is to ask what was tested and how. That historical sample does not describe every product sold today, and it did not test NYUM.
A useful certificate of analysis should identify the product or ingredient, batch, test date, method, and result. Ask whether a percentage describes the reishi ingredient or the entire finished formula. Identity and composition testing answer different questions from a human clinical trial.
04 / THE NYUM FORMULAS
Reishi capsules or organic mushroom gummies?
Here is how the two NYUM options differ. Force has a separately disclosed reishi amount; MYCO-X combines ten mushrooms in one gummy complex. Compare the format and formula you want before comparing the bottle price.
| What you’re comparing | Fucoidan Force® | MYCO-X™ |
|---|---|---|
| Format | 60 vegan capsules | 60 gummies; 2-gummy label serving |
| Mushroom approach | Organic reishi fruiting-body extract | 10 organic fruiting-body mushroom species |
| Reishi amount | 250 mg per capsule | Part of a combined complex; no separate reishi amount disclosed |
| Reishi specification | 30% polysaccharides; not a stated beta-glucan percentage | Review the full complex and ingredient panel |
| Companion ingredients | 300 mg Super-U-100® marine extract, standardized to 75% fucoidan by HPLC | Lion’s mane, turkey tail, cordyceps, chaga, maitake, shiitake, Agaricus blazei, white button, and black fungus |
| Best fit by format | Someone who wants reishi and fucoidan together | Someone who wants a chewable multi-mushroom formula |
The 300 mg in Force is the amount of marine extract, not 300 mg of pure fucoidan. Its 75% specification applies to that marine ingredient. The reishi is a separate 250 mg ingredient with its own specification. Keeping those numbers separate makes the formula easier to compare.
05 / MEET THE COMPANION INGREDIENT
New to fucoidan? Here is why it is in Force.
Fucoidan is a family of sulfated polysaccharides found in brown seaweed. Force brings a standardized marine extract and organic reishi into the same capsule. That makes it a marine-and-mushroom combination for someone interested in both ingredient families.
If you came here searching for reishi, you do not need to become a seaweed expert before reading the formula. Start with the two ingredient amounts, their separate standardization statements, and the full label. Our fucoidan introduction explains the marine ingredient in more detail.
Force is a combination product. It is not interchangeable with a reishi-only capsule, and NYUM does not present the pairing as a clinically proven synergy. Choose it because you want its disclosed combination, rather than because two ingredients automatically make a product better.
06 / QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU BUY
Reishi supplement questions, answered.
Are reishi capsules better than gummies?
Format alone does not decide quality. Compare the reishi amount, other ingredients, serving size, and testing. A gummy blend may be easier to use, while a capsule can provide a separately listed reishi extract. MYCO-X and Force have different formulas as well as different formats.
Does more reishi on the front label mean a stronger supplement?
Not necessarily. First determine whether the number refers to extract weight, raw-mushroom equivalent, a combined blend, or one capsule. Then compare the same type of amount and the same serving basis.
What benefits are established for reishi?
Reishi is studied for several biological effects, but laboratory findings do not establish the same outcomes in people. Memorial Sloan Kettering’s reishi monograph distinguishes research findings from established clinical use. A finished supplement should not inherit every result reported for a different preparation.
Can I take reishi alongside medicines?
Check with a pharmacist or clinician before combining it with medicines, particularly blood thinners or immunosuppressants, or before surgery. Read the complete directions and warnings on the product you choose.
Where should I start if I want several mushrooms?
Start with the mushroom complex guide and the MYCO-X ingredient list. If you specifically want organic reishi with standardized fucoidan, compare Force’s full label.
