NYUM / FUCOIDAN BUYING GUIDES
Fucoidan purity describes how much of a tested material is attributed to fucoidan under a particular analytical method and reporting basis. It is different from the milligram weight of an extract, a blend or a capsule. To compare percentages, first check that they apply to the same type of material and ask how they were measured.
THE BUYING DETAIL
Three numbers. Three different jobs.
THE BUYING DETAIL
45% and 75% need context.
| Formula | What the percentage describes | What not to assume |
|---|---|---|
| Organic Fucoidan | 45% standardization of the wakame ingredient within a 245 mg complete blend | The whole 245 mg blend is not disclosed as 45% fucoidan. The wakame-only weight is not listed. |
| Fucoidan Force | 300 mg marine extract standardized to 75% fucoidan by HPLC | 300 mg is not the weight of isolated pure fucoidan. |
| Fucoidan Phoenix | 333.5 mg seaweed-extract blend standardized to 75% fucoidan by HPLC | The percentage does not apply to the separate 400 mg mushroom complex. |
THE BUYING DETAIL
When can you calculate an estimated amount?
Only when an ingredient’s weight is known and the stated percentage represents its fucoidan fraction on the same mass basis. For example, a hypothetical 100 mg extract reported as 75% fucoidan by mass would correspond to 75 mg. This is arithmetic from a specification, not an independent batch measurement.
THE BUYING DETAIL
The test method changes how you interpret purity.
A 2021 analytical study compared several approaches to estimating fucoidan purity and found that results depended on the analytical approach and sample. Fucoidan is a variable family of materials, so an isolated percentage without method and sample context is incomplete. [source]
Ask which ingredient or finished product was tested, which reference material and method were used, how the result is expressed, and whether the report identifies your lot. The HPLC guide explains those questions.
Concentration, contaminant testing and evidence of a health effect answer different questions. Use all relevant information when choosing a fucoidan supplement.

Questions before you choose
Does 75% purity mean 75% of the whole capsule is fucoidan?
No. For Force and Phoenix, the label percentage describes the named marine ingredient or seaweed-extract blend. It does not describe the entire capsule or companion mushroom ingredients.
Is “high purity” a complete specification?
No. Look for a stated percentage, the material it applies to, and the test method and reporting basis. The phrase alone does not provide those details.
Does purity tell me the right dose?
No. Concentration and serving size are separate pieces of information. A purity percentage does not establish an effective daily amount for a person.
